What is Discriminatory Abuse?

Discrimination is a form of abuse and it can be a factor when it comes to the abuse of a young person or a vulnerable person.

Discriminatory abuse it the unequal treatment of an individual based on age, disability, gender and gender reassignment, marriage, civil partnership, pregnancy, race, religion, beliefs, sex and sexual orientation.

All of our young people come from many different backgrounds, cultures, religions and will have their own beliefs and needs, wants, dreams and every single one of our young people have their own ideas of who they are, of their sexuality, their gender, identity and all will at some point go out into the big wide world.

Young people and vulnerable people are all discriminated against just as adults are, and it can cause just the same amount of damage if not more on the young people we care for and care about.
